A Colorful Mod Table

What a delightful hodgepodge of mod color this table is! We have a word we use in our family, "over-ka-bubbles," and while I am not sure where it came from (I think my dad made it up), "over-ka-bubbles night" is the night you mix all of your leftovers from the week together in a single dinner. I think this table is an "over-ka-bubbles" of dishes! A big mix of colors, patterns, and styles.

I've set other tables with the Villeroy & Boch Acapulco pattern; the '60s vibe and colors sing to me. The pattern makes me happy! As with other tables, I've mixed Fiesta with it because it is a great match!

Three of the plate stacks feature vintage turquoise and scarlet, lilac, meadow, persimmon, and butterscotch. Other stacks include chartreuse and poppy, as well as lavender, vintage dark green, turquoise, and lapis. The plates consist of Fiesta charger plates, dinner plates, and Villeroy & Boch salad plates.

The Acapulco salad plates came with two different patterns, one being the birds, another having a border print with the mod flowers and birds. I can see using these plates with a Fiesta berry bowl in the middle.

I couldn't just stop with Fiesta on the plate stack! Remember my island display I put together with the Fiesta bowls and farmers' market bounty? It was the perfect colorful centerpiece for this table, and the more Fiesta - the better!

Poppy, daffodil, shamrock, and turquoise bistro bowls fit this plate rack perfectly! Underneath, a Bauer Canoe bowl in Bauer orange echoes the '60s mod theme. Our tomato plants have gone bonkers, so we have several bowls with tomatoes in them. We love tomatoes, just not all at once, please!

Bauer candlesticks in Bauer orange complete the table. The tablecloths are a layered mix. The bottom tablecloth is a Mexican print from a very dear friend. It's busy—too busy to show off the Acapulco plates, so next I layered a gauzy turquoise square and finally a gold and orange silk shawl that was a gift from a friend who purchased it in India. Napkins are a mix of madras plaids with a playful 60's daisy pattern on forest green napkin rings. The glassware making its debut on this table is a beautiful teal set of glasses I found in two different thrift stores, what are the odds? Silverware is my everyday Mikasa Harmony.

I usually prefer tables that match, but this one was completely different! I love the vibrant colors of the Acapulco combined with Fiesta; it makes for a fun table!
