A Memorial Day trio
A trio of tables for this Memorial Day, with a special guest appearance table from my bestie! Dear friend Kissy, bestie, and I have a text group we've dubbed "Fiesta Fanatics." We share pictures of dishes, wish lists, and table settings as well as shelfies and inventory lists. This morning we were ooh'ing and ahhing over some Fishs Eddy insta posts, and bestie posted her Memorial table. Just WOW!
Bestie Memorial Day table
Earlier this year, Fiesta released an "Americana" pattern on a Linen base plate, with very cute patterns in red, white, and blue. The pattern is really cute, especially if you host large family gatherings for the holidays (and my bestie does!). On this table, she mixed Cobalt, Scarlet, White, Ivory, and Linen. Her oak dining table is the perfect backdrop for this patriotic setting!
Fiesta released coasters, and I love how she uses them under the glasses -- super cute and practical! The flowers and twirly things in the Ivory vase along with the table runner with the stars complete this beautiful table!
I set two tables for Memorial Day, one in our dining room, and as I was getting ready to take it down, I thought, "Hmmm, I am going to use these pieces for an outside dinner tonight!" And so, we have two tables!
My dining room table
The inspiration for this table was the table runner. It's been on my kitchen table for two weeks, and I kept thinking about what kind of Memorial Day setting to create with it.
I loved mixing all of the patterns: the calico of the table runner, the plaids of the napkins, the stars and stripes on the plates, and the stars! The Fiesta colors were very much the same as my bestie: Scarlett, Ivory, Linen, White, Lapis, and Sapphire. The chargers on the place setting are vintage Ivory, which is much closer to Linen than the newer Ivory, which, in my opinion, is more yellow.
The centerpiece is a Linen vase with patriotic stars and twirly things! I added some greenery from the yard to break up some of the color and added a string of lights for fun!
The tablecloth is Laura Ashley in deep red; it goes well with so many tables: Christmas, Valentine's, and summer table settings. I used woven navy and red placemats to break up the big color on this table. The napkins are two different red, white, and blue plaids with straw napkin rings. My youngest son was helping me with the table and chose the Lenox Valencia glassware. I only have four, so we added stemless wine glasses from Weight Watchers at the head and foot of the table.
Dinner al fresco
Today was a picture-perfect day in Northern California! The final table is in my backyard. The inspiration for the table is my new tablecloth from Home Goods. The colors were perfect for the dishes that I moved from the dining room to the patio. I added the green Noritake Breeze glasses to pick up the green in the tablecloth, and the table was set! I added a Fiesta Linen pitcher for water, and done!
Dinner was delicious! We made a whole roasted chicken, the recipe loosely based on a Pioneer Woman recipe; homemade potato salad, tomato salad (neither have a recipe, I've been making them for 30 years and just make them!), and a lovely Mourvèdre Rosé from Tercero Vineyards.
As you celebrate this three-day weekend, remember the reason for it: to mourn, remember, and honor the military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
