Autumn Equinox
The autumn equinox has come and gone, marking the official start of fall! In Northern California, the leaves have begun to change. Our Pepperberry and Sugar Maple trees are turning shades of red and gold. Persimmons, my favorite fruit, are beginning to ripen into their beautiful color, and my small Michaelmas daisies are thriving!
I love the fall colors, and the house is decorated with swags of fall leaves, sunflowers, candles, and fall fruits. As my house is decorated with oranges, golds, greens, and persimmons, the swags fit the decor perfectly!
The everyday dishes have been changed, with the vibrant summer hues replaced by deep fall shades—and I couldn't resist setting a fall table using all the Fiesta autumn colors!
Choosing fall colors in Fiesta is difficult; there are so many options! For this table, I chose Paprika, Marigold, and Poppy as dinner plates and an assortment of colors for appetizer plates and berry bowls, including Cinnabar, Butterscotch, and Persimmon. My fall mix includes all of those, but I have also added Homer Laughlin Casual Stone in Antique Gold and Turf Green. Casual Stone was a line of dishware manufactured from 1968-1970 and looked like Fiesta, only sleeker, thinner, and lighter. The colors are quintessentially '70s, yet they complement fall hues beautifully! This line features a rich mahogany brown called Amberstone, which I enjoy pairing with blues in winter.

The tablecloth is a beautiful stripe with oranges, golds, browns, green, and a small bit of blue, perfect for this fall table. The plate stack includes a dark brown rattan charger, a dinner plate, an appetizer plate, and a berry bowl, all Fiesta. The glass is a stemless wine glass in a gorgeous brown tortoise with gold flecks, which I think I purchased from Pier One, and the flatware is a hammered gold set from Home Goods. The napkins have leaves that pick up the colors in the tablecloth and the dishes; they were purchased from Kohl's many years ago.
A very simple centerpiece, a Bauer Stock vase in Bauer Yellow. Candles on Fiesta Poppy coasters and my favorite mushroom salt and pepper shakers. My little mushroom man is sitting in the tree in the corner. The mushrooms are a nod to my Polish heritage; my dad also loves his "grzyby," or we pronounced them "jzee-bahs."
Mushrooms on the front porch, they are everywhere!
A few pictures of the fall decor inside the house. Soon it will be Halloween and the house will completely transform and I can't wait to have Jack Straw and Bertha make their annual visits!
