Lazy Daisy Sunday Morning

It's been a minute since I set a Sunday morning breakfast table! These Metlox Sculptured Daisy plates were actually the very first plates that launched my dish collection. I was living in Miami (many many years ago!) and thrifting with friend and found these plates and thought they were pretty and bought them. Little did I know they'd launch an obsession, I mean collection!

We've had a busy summer traveling and haven't really had many Sunday mornings with the whole family at home. Dear hubby made his world famous breakfast casserole and I made a fruit salad and we had a delicious family breakfast.

The table is simple but I love the way it turned out! Daisies are so happy! My youngest son was up early and providing commentary and helpful hints. My pup, Pattycakes, photobombed the pic, she is also a good helper.

I love the green woven placemats, they are so versatile. I have these same placemats in many colors. We use placemats at our table for every meal and these wash so nice. I never throw them in the dryer, just lay the out in the laundry room and they are dry in a few minutes. I purchased them at Kohl's, Hobby Lobby and Home Goods. We also use cloth napkins for most meals, these napkins were originally used for Thanksgiving, they are from April Cornell. The green and yellow really match the plates nicely.

The glass ware is my everyday Noritake Breeze. The small daisy plates on top came from Cost Plus World Market. The flatware is my everyday flatware, Mikasa Harmony.

Sculptured Daisy was produced by Metlox Potteries in Manhattan Beach, California, from 1964 to 1983. I love this vintage pottery, I have place settings of Zinnia and Peach Blossom too. At some point, Metlox purchased Vernon Kilns, which has a pretty line of plaid plates that I love, called Tam O'Shanter. The serving pieces with the pattern are cute, they have basket weave pattern, there are quite a few complementary pieces. The cookie jar and compote are adorable.

The centerpiece is flowers from our local farmers market, snap dragons and zinnias, with a few daisies tucked in. The vase is vintage McCoy and complements the yellow in the plates and napkins.

In the summer our local farmer's market has such amazing produce and specialty booths like bakeries and flowers. Saturday mornings, the island in the kitchen chock full of produce! Usually, I divide it into baskets and bowls. I read quite a few lifestyle blogs and I am always impressed with how they "style" their islands with wood bowls, candles, flowers and mine? bowls of fruit and vegetables. I decided to change that. Yesterday #2 son and I went to IKEA and my goal was to find something for the island -- no idea what, and then saw really cute plate rack. I remembered I had one at home and pulled it out. I really like the way it looks on the island. I found this one at Goodwill several years ago and usually use it for parties.

The first try was with baskets, and it was nice, but meh... as I was sending pictures to Bestie and Kissy, I realized I could use all Fiesta, I think it would like nice with all Longaberger baskets as well. This fall Bestie and Kissy and I are going to go to the Homer Laughlin tent sale, we always stop at antique stores and that area has a ton of Longaberger - I will need to look for some that fit.

Finally, in those bowls and baskets are tomatoes, zucchini's and squash for ratatouille, it was delish!
