Lucky crows

In Russia, crows are considered lucky. Native Americans believe crows bring luck and wisdom. Crows are very intelligent, they have memories and make tools, they collect shiny things and when there is a group of them together, they are a murder! I love crows. When I hear one in a tree cawing, I always caw back. I have crow decorations around my house even when it is not Halloween, but oh when Halloween comes... the crows become a murder!

Needless to say, I have several different crow plates to set tables with. Each time I see a new pattern... it gets added to my inventory! HomeGoods is always a good source, Etsy is another and finally EBay. I have tiny crow figurines scattered around the house, you know, for luck!

Each of the crow plates has a tiny bit of purple in them, so that became the color to tie the table together. The plate stack starts with a Dollar Tree charger, under the plate is a Día de Muertos skull, but I love pattern on the rim - flowers, leaves and dots. The dinner plates are Fiesta, I used purples (Lilac, Mulberry and Heather) and bright greens (Chartreuse and Lemon Grass.) Friend Kissy was on hand to help mix and match!

The tablecloth is a Laura Ashley Stone linen with a sheer purple scarf with velvet bat cut-outs. Napkins are brand new from Amazon and have crows on them! Along with buying the napkins, I bought plain black napkin rings and attached glitter roses from Dollar Tree.

The glassware is Waterford Mourne iced tea glasses, but in the picture you will see a tiny gold and emerald green coffee cup, one of hubby's employees gave him a beautiful coffee set from Dubai. The coffee pot itself is stunning, both the pot and the cups have the green enameling on them. The silverware is the Cost Plus Treble Clef, I love this pattern, I love the curlique at the bottom. I wish I had bought more place settings of it, there are versions of it on Amazon and Wayfair, maybe I will buy a few pieces to see if they match.

The flowers in the centerpiece are in standard florist square vases. Hubby had bought a large skull vase that we searched high and low for when I was about to build the centerpiece -- we looked everywhere! Of course, we found it as I put the last flowers in the square vases. We did a group of three vases, two short, one medium to vary the heights. The flowers came from our local farmers market. The marigolds were so bright and I love the scent of them, they are the French marigolds, so they have a very strong scent. The smell of marigolds and mums remind me of fall, so fresh and crisp. In India, marigolds symbolize purity, auspiciousness, and the divine. The bright magenta celosia and the chartreuse green mums were the inspiration for the colors on the table. The crow figurines came from Hobby Lobby and the little crow in front, I have no idea where he came from!

On the buffet is another member of the murder as well as couple flying around the chandelier. In the background in the living room you can see Jack Straw and Bertha sitting on the couch. They are patiently waiting for their turn at the table. Undoubtedly, there will be a crow or two at the table along with skeletons and black cats!
