Snowflakes and Fiesta

It's time for the annual Tablescape drawing in my "I Love Fiesta Ware" Facebook group. Every year after the new Fiesta is announced (more on that later!) an avid and talented tablescaper has a drawing and awards a prize in a raffle drawing. There are some rules:

  • At least one place setting - I have 6

  • At least one piece of Fiesta in the Set Up - I have 2

  • Something Special to you on the table - give reason why it's special

  • One or more of these items Incorporated on your Tablescape

  • Gingham - Burlap - Galvanized metal - Farm Animal - napkin, table runner, charger and cow

I love that he sponsors this fun activity every year and participating in this annual tradition! You can see a table I made here in 2022: https://www.astheluckycrowflies.com/post/table-smiles and one that dear friend Kissy made in 2025 while I was traveling: https://www.astheluckycrowflies.com/post/fiesta-and-franciscan. The something special I almost always use because it is special and it ticks two boxes is the cow creamer, it was a gift from my husbands aunt from her china cabinet. In the photo below you can see all of the requested items.

One of my favorite Fiesta decals is the snowflake pattern. When this pattern first appeared on the Lapis dishes, I bought luncheon plates for both my bestie and myself. The snowflakes are primarily silver with occasional pops of gold. With the introduction of Linen last year, they released the same decal on the Linen plates. I kept telling myself I didn't need them, but eventually, I ended up getting them. The decal is available on several Fiesta colors: Scarlett, Jade, Lapis, Cobalt, Linen, Sky, and White. It is applied to various pieces such as mugs, ornament plates and other shapes. Although I could create a Jade and Scarlett snowflake table for Christmas, I don't really need more Christmas dishes, and they don't seem particularly "wintery" to me. I did buy the Linen appetizer plate with one large snowflake on it, which is so pretty. However, I forgot to put it on the table—oops.

For this table, I used four colors of Fiesta: Chocolate, Lapis, Periwinkle, and Linen. The plate stack includes a galvanized metal charger, a dinner plate, and a luncheon plate. I love blues and browns together; I've done a few tables in this color scheme.

The tablecloth has a toile pattern in Lapis blue set against a natural background. The napkins are a Chocolate brown gingham, each with a galvanized metal napkin ring for four of the place settings. I either don't have six rings or they are tucked away in a drawer and I couldn't locate them. The head of the table at both ends has a faux ivory ring. The silverware is my everyday Mikasa Harmony, and the glasses, which are becoming my most versatile, are from IKEA and are called VARDAGEN.

The centerpiece is a beautiful Fiesta Presentation bowl in Linen. I love the shape of the Presentation bowl. The Art Deco lines are just stunning! Photos courtesy of Macy's, where this bowl is currently on sale! I added a few rattan balls and a ceramic pear that echoed the colors on the table, added pedestal candles, and the centerpiece was complete! During Christmas, I filled the bowl with a large candle and a mix of Shiny Brite ornaments. It is a great serving bowl for large gatherings. I have the bowl in several colors; I was lucky and found two different colors at a garage sale for $10 each!

We have moved beyond the winter equinox, and the days are lengthening. Snow is uncommon in my area; today, it was 65 degrees. Nonetheless, I really enjoy a snowy and cozy table setting!

In 2026, Fiesta will celebrate its 90th anniversary, and on January 13th, they unveiled their latest color: Lavender! Since the retirement of Lilac in 1995, many Fiesta collectors have been requesting a purple shade. Below is a comparison of the new purple with the retired shades (image courtesy of Fiesta Tableware).

Lavender is a versatile color that can appear both pastel and dusty. I am visualizing pairing it with Periwinkle and Linen or Sage and Linen. This new shade will look lovely on an Easter table alongside yellows and greens. It will be available for order on March 31st, and I plan to order a few plates to add to my collection!
