We've never had any specific traditions for the Fourth of July. When our sons were little, we would attend the fireworks display. Living in California means most fireworks, such as sparklers, are illegal, so it usually ends up being just a day off. Occasionally, we spend it with friends or neighbors, barbecuing and enjoying the day.

Even if we don't celebrate a holiday with much fanfare, that's no reason not to enjoy special dishes for it! Fiesta created charming "Americana" decals featuring Scarlett, Lapis, and Cobalt stars on white luncheon plates. My bestie owns the star-shaped plates made by Fiesta. She has them in various colors, allowing them to be used not only for patriotic holidays but also to complement Christmas and New Year's celebrations! Unfortunately, both of these dish styles have been retired by Fiesta, although you can still find star plates in some colors on websites like https://www.everythingkitchens.com/.

My dear friend Kissy and I arranged this table following the Flowery, Summery Fiesta setup... we were on a creative roll! I was amazed to discover the how much patriotic table setting items I owned! We laid out a deep red tablecloth and a table runner from Home Goods that nearly matched the stars on the plates. While searching, we found placemats made of stars in red, blue, and silver.

To complement the Americana decals on the plates, we chose Scarlett and Lapis Fiesta dinner plates along with matching accessory bowls. We used various patterns of red, white, and blue napkins, mixing and matching them to enhance the table runner. Kissy discovered white star-shaped napkin rings in my napkin ring drawer, so we used them at the head and foot of the table with the star plates and sheet metal rings to accentuate the silver stars on the placemats.

The centerpiece included wooden stars arranged around a clear vase filled with flags and red, white, and blue decorations, likely from Hobby Lobby. We adorned the centerpiece with rattan stars with lights to enhance the sparkle. For the glassware, we combined vintage Bartlett-Collins thumbprint goblets in Ruby Red Flash with Lenox Valencia glasses in blue. My everyday flatware, Mikasa Harmony, completed the table setting. We also strung red, white, and blue star lights across the buffet, and now we're all set to celebrate the Fourth of July in style.

Enjoy your Fourth of July holiday with a barbeque and friends and be safe.
